Lexington Project Potential Guidelines
Students, selected in eighth grade as Project Potential recipients, receive up to $3,500 to apply directly to college costs upon high school graduation. The following guidelines must be met in order for the student to receive scholarship funds:
This is a six to eight year contract between the student and the scholarship committee (four years in high school and two to four years in higher education).
The student must maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher during four years of high school.
The student must have no criminal record.
Recipients must conduct themselves properly in school and in the community.
Recipients must participate in school activities or work part-time.
Project Potential funds may be used to attend an accredited two or four-year college or university.
Parents of the recipients can be involved to the extent to which they agree.
Students must be enrolled and graduate from any Davidson County high school.
Students will defer the Project Potential funds if they receive a full scholarship from a different source, enabling another deserving student to then receive financial assistance.
Recipients may participate in the College Coach Program matching students with adult mentors.
